30. Fall Festival!

As you probably already know, I started school in August. I'm a 6th grader at Wasatch School, and my teacher is Mr. Scribner. He's really funny, as well as nice, and I really like him. Today, our school is having a Fall Festival fund raiser, and the 6th graders get to help with it. I'm working at the Concession's Stand from 4 to 5, and Mom's coming to help, too. It's going to be soooooo much FUN!!!!! I'm super excited! Lots of love to everyone in Buffalo!!! We miss you!

29. New Shoes!

I'm getting a pair super cute new shoes in the next couple of days!!! My cousin's Grandma(on her dad's side of the family-I'm on her mom's side.) makes them. She paints them by hand, and they always turn out looking great. They're also cheap; only $30 for the painting and the shoes. Some people have been selling stuff like that for $100, so it's a deal. I'm sooo excited to get them! No one at school will have anything like them because each one's unique, which is always a plus. Again I'm sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo excited!

28. Avalon High

This is the book the Disney movie Avalon High is based on. If you've seen the movie; sorry, but in the book, Ellie's not really King Arthur. So here's what it says on the inside cover:
Avalon High seems like a typical high school, attended by typical students: There's Lance, the jock. Jennifer, the cheerleader. And Will, senior class president, quarterback, and all-around good guy. But not everybody at Avalon High is who they appear to be... not even, as new student Ellie is about to discover herself. What part does she play in the drama that is unfolding? What if the bizarre chain of events and coincidences she has pieced together means-as with the court of King Arthur- tragedy is fast approaching Avalon High? Worst of all, what if there there's nothing she can do about it?
This book is by Meg Cabot, author of The Princess Dairies, and lots of other books. It's 288 pages long, and an all-around GREAT book.

27. The Big Nap

This is kind of an easy reader, but it's still fun to read. All of the books in the series are based on detective movies. They are hilarious!!! Chet Gecko is a gecko private eye whose assistant is a sarcastic mocking bird.

The book is 113 pages long. It is by Bruce Hale.

26. Goddess Girls: Athena the Brain

I had noticed that these books had become popular with my friends last year, so I decided to read them. They are about the Greek gods and goddesses as if they went to a school for the gods. The series starts out with the first book, Athena the Brain. Athena lives on Earth for the first chapter or so until Athena gets a letter from Zeus, King of the Gods and Ruler of the Heaven, not to mention the principal of Mount Olympics Academy. The letter orders Athena to come to Mount Olympics for school, and tells her that she is Zeus' "most favorite daughter in all the universe." The next morning , at MOA, Athena befriends the most popular goddess girls in MOA, Aphrodite, goddess girl of love and beauty, Persephony, goddess girl of flowers, and Artemis, goddess girl of the hunt and the moon. The rest of the book includes inventing, classes on guiding heroes, and an invention fair. The whole series is written by Joan Holub. Athena the brain is 160 pages long. The rest of the books add on to their stories in different perspectives. Here's a list of the books in order(I've read them all:
  1. Athena the Brain
  2. Persephony the Phony
  3. Aphrodite the Beauty
  4. Artemis the Brave
  5. Athena the Wise
  6. Aphrodite the Diva
  7. Artemis the Loyal
  8. Medusa the Mean
  9. Super Special: The Girl Games
  10. Pandora the Curious
  11. Pheme the Gossip

25. What Time Is It? Summer Time!!!

Happy Summer everyone! We miss all the peeps in Buffalo! We have had a High School Musical hit in our house, so Summer Time (or whatever that song is really called) has been running through everyone's heads. Love those movies!

23. Chasing Vermeer

Chasing Vermeer is about two kids named Calder, and Petra. They have a rather strange(or at least to them) teacher this year. Her name is Ms. Hussey. She let the children in her classroom learn just about whatever they want to. When they focus on art, a priceless painting is stolen. The painting is called "A Lady Writing," and is by Vermeer. Of course, they decided on art BECAUSE of the stolen painting. Petra is hearing the Lady directing her to help. Calder carries magical shapes in his pocket that tell him things. Will Calder and Petra be able to find the painting before it's too late?

I liked this book a lot. It was interesting to see everything come into play. WARNING: you have to pay attention to every little thing in order to figure out who's the thief before it's given. Anyway this book was pretty good. I recommend it. It was 254 pages, and written by Blue Balliett. Here's a pic. of what the book looks like.
